HEART CHOCOLATE
HEART CHOCOLATE
VISUAL PRODUCTION
5th November 2024
Having now selected Making of a Hot Chocolate with a month or so before the assignment is due, here is our plan forward to film the process. Each section has it's own page to detail our development of the film.
Week commencing 4th November 2024
Research
Build on the research already completed in an Exploration of Processes. We need to decide on a specific set of instructions (a process) which is in the form of a recipe, with ingredients..
See: The Process.
Locations & Recce
Complete a recce of our potential locations: my kitchen and Matt's kitchen. Evaluate the space we have available. Take photos and create a location plan for each.
See: The Location.
Concept and Premise
Devise a premise for Making a Hot Chocolate...
See: The Premise
Script
Write a script that will showcase the process, in an interesting and engaging manor, in around 2 minutes in length. Remember to incorporate symbolism through colour and props etc
See: The Script
Risk Assessment
Be aware of our surroundings and what we are working with. Create a risk assessment form detailing any hazards we may encounter due to filming.

Week commencing 11th November 2024
Present & Feedback
We should present our ideas to Paul and Viv for feedback.
Shot List
From the script, imagine each shot we could film. This should be written and could include a storyboard.
See: Shot List
Equipment List
Create a list of all the equpment we need to book out from Media Loans. Keep track of what is required, what has been ordered and whether it has been approved or not. This should include the camera (z150), tripod (Manfrotto), lighting and sliders.
See: Equipment List
Props
Source the props required that we identified whilst writing script. We could potentially borrow some from uni, go to charity shops or buy online. Most likely will include recipe books and the ingredients.
Sound List
Similarly to the shot-list, we need to plan the sounds we want to record. This would be foley, not dialogue; mostly steps, swooshes, slides, tearing and placing etc.
Lighting
Using our location plans and the script, identify the pyshical and practical lights we need to incorporate to fit the emotional theme and context we want to portray.
Week commencing 18th November 2024
Shoot
With our plan of action in place, we use the outputs of the previous tasks to film the scene.
Rushes & Offline Edit
Throw the clips together to tell the story. Identify anything we may need to reshoot.
Week commencing 25th November 2024
Edit
Cut together a polished version of the film, with colour grading, effects, titles, sound and anything else we need.
Review
Ask Viv and Paul for any further feedback before submission.
Provide the finished film along with our development portfolios to the lecturers for assessment, before the upcoming due date in December.
