VISUAL PRODUCTION
November 2024
Repeating information through symbolism creates a theme and rhythm. We can break this pattern to surprise and engage our aduience. Pitting one symbol against another is a form of juxtaposition.
Alternatively, symbols can compliment and emphasise other symbols. The photo by x compares the innocence of love with the danger of the height, The idea that they could fall off the edge is compared to them falling in love.
We rarely experience things in isolation. Taking one subject alongside another would crete different situations. Take a cat: A cat + elderly woman may represent company.

Symbolism in the Poster
The poster uses the colour black: black smoke, black rocks, black car and a man in a black suit. This is juxtaposed with a picknic, dressed in white.
Black and white contrast in colour but also are contraductiry themes. For example, night vs day, evil vs innocence.
